The Mummer's Dragon

So this one is a long-time coming. We already kind of know who this might be in the books, but the show has been surprisingly silent about this part of Quaithe's prophecy.

When Quaithe tells Dany to beware the Mummer's Dragon, what exactly might she mean? Well, a mummer is an actor of sorts, and Dragons tend to refer to Targaryens themselves. Knowing this, the fan theories claims that we will see a certain Young Griff who will claim the Iron Throne as Aegon V, Dany's nephew who was slain by the Mountain during Robert's Rebellion. Perhaps the rightful line of succession from the Mad King will be maintained as it was originally intended after all!

2

Bran Is Azor Ahai

According to this interesting fan theory, Bran is actually the Prince That Was Promised, also known as Azor Ahai, whom Melisandre often refers to. But could Bran actually be the prophetic hero?

Given that Bran has some serious time travel skills, it's completely possible that he could go back far enough (or even forward enough?) to be the legendary hero. Some things check out, but others don't. For instance, how was Bran born amidst salt and smoke? That doesn't seem to check out. Also, Bran would only be able to wield Lightbringer on horseback, and we have never seen him hold a blade. All in all, it seems bleak, but definitely plausible!

3

Arya Stoneheart

So by now, the chances of Lady Stoneheart making an appearance in the vein of the source material is very, very low; however, what if that storyline was given to Arya instead? Let's break this down:

So last we see Arya, she is slitting Walder Frey's throat. It just so happens that we also see The Hound heading North with the Brotherhood Without Banners. If this plays out anything like it does in the books, the Brotherhood Without Banners will be lead in some way by Arya, instead of the very late Lady Stark. Arya will command a force of battle-hardened men as they lay waste to anyone who remotely helped the Boltons, Lannisters, or Freys. Boom. Pretty pink bow.

4

Jaqen H'ghar is Syrio Forrell

This is an old fan favorite theory. As it goes, Syrio Forrell was Jaqen H'ghar the entire time. So Syrio was a Faceless Man the entire time and did as he was bid and paid by Lord Stark to protect and train Arya. Actually, this makes perfect sense.

Why else would Jaqen be so relaxed when Arya keeps messing up in her Faceless Man training. It seems more than possible that Jaqen never intended for her to finish the training, only enough to gain the necessary skills to protect herself and kill her enemies, as she exemplifies when Arya defeats the Waif in season six. Perhaps that is why Jaqen is smiling when he tells her she's going home, because he finally fulfilled his contract with Eddard Stark back in King's Landing.

5

Sam Figures Out Valyrian Steel

Both in the show and the books, Sam is sent off to Oldtown to not just become a Maester, but also learn more about the Long Night and how to defeat the White Walkers. But what he will actually learn is up for debate.

It is thought that Samwell Tarly will figure out the recipe for Valyrian Steel, or at least a crude form of it, using obsidian, or dragonglass. In fact, it's entirely possible that they might even have a working prototype by the time Dany and her dragons get to Westeros. Perhaps a Jon and Dany alliance against the white walkers will constitute the first Valyrian steel forge since before the Doom of Valyria.

6

The Iron Bank Will Support Dany

Remember those scenes a season or two ago where the crown was treating with the Iron Bank of Bravos? Well, they are definitely not going away, and you can be sure that they won't be happy with the current goings on in King's Landing.

With the Sept of Baelor and the new Master of Coin gone in one fell swoop, it seems very clear that the Iron Bank will be helping fund someone who will pay off the outstanding debt to the Iron Bank. Logic leads us to conclude that person will be Danaerys Targaryen. Or maybe someone pretending to be a Targaryen? A Mummer's Dragon, if you will? Either way, the Iron Bank will definitely be moving against Cersei's administration, that much of this theory is all but assured.

7

Sansa Baelish

According to this theory, Sansa will be unfulfilled in her lesser role in the reborn Kingdom of the North lead by Jon Snow. In fact, she will be tempted by Lord Baelish's image of where he wants to be: on the Iron Throne with Sansa by his side.

It's totally possible. Baelish certainly has the wherewithal to make this a reality. All it takes is for Sansa to be swayed a little further. After enduring Geoffrey and Ramsay, it makes sense that she would come out of it a bit darker. But it might be Littlefinger himself that causes her to become her own kind of Lady Stoneheart. A ruthless Stark waiting to punish anyone who denounces or challenges her claim to power.

8

Bran Created The Mad King

This fan theory has been causing lots of buzz online. After the awesome heartbreak that was the Hold the Door episode, certain possibilities have become wildly popular concerning Bran's apparent time travel ability.

What if Bran thought about what he did with Hodor, only tried to do something on person. What if Bran decided that the situation was too dire, and needed to back a few decades in order to prepare. Maybe he goes to the most powerful man in Westeros, Aerys II Targaryen, and tells him to "burn all the White Walkers and the wights"? We saw what happened to Hodor when Bran pushed to hard, what if he lost control while warging into the Mad King Aerys, damaging his mind and creating the madness and all that followed.

9

Missandei Is No One

According to this fan theory, Missandei is not who we think she is. Over the course of both the books and the novels, we are told that Missandei has wisdom and knowledge of someone well above her age, including being able to speak 19 languages.

But, what if she was trained to know all of that? What if she was a Faceless Man? Now why would that be important? Well, the Faceless Men are assassins, who historically have a strong hatred for Valyria and their slaving ways. The Faceless Men are from Bravos, which was founded by rebel Valyrian slaves. It would not be so far to think that the Faceless Men would have agents aiding to create a world without slavery. Sounds right up Dany's alley, as well as the Faceless Men. Ready yourself to see Missandei peel off that face for another.

10

Mad Queen Dany

After a couple of scenes in season six, there are some serious concerns that are starting to be raised about the sanity of the Mother of Dragons.

After reuniting with Daario and Jorah, Dany talks about going to Westeros, but not about claiming the Iron Throne by right; instead, she speaks of conquest, and of burning those who stand in her way. Does this make for a peaceful ruler? What if Dany is falling prey to the madness known to dwell in her blood? It is said that when each Targaryen is born, the gods flip a coin whether they will be brilliant or mad. Dany's father fell prey to this madness, will she follow in her father's footsteps?

11

Jaime Is The Valonqar

According to the prophecy of Maggie the Frog, the person who will kill Cersei is known as the Valonqar. In high valyrian, the mother tongue of the Targaryens, this word means "little brother" or "little sister."

While there are many guesses to who could be the Valonqar, by far the most popular answer is Jaime Lannister himself. Tyrion would be far too easy and answer, for both literal and figurative reasons, and George R.R. Martin and the Game of Thrones showrunners do not normally use such writing tactics. What sounds much more plausible to many fans, is that Jaime will be forced to kill Cersei for the good of the realm, as he's already had to do with the Mad King. She's already started to follow through with Old King Aerys' last wish, to "burn them all." History is about to repeat itself.

12

Bran the Builder

With Bran Stark's new awesome time travel and warging powers, we know some really cool stuff is afoot. And here's one idea about what we might see:

As Bran trains with the Weirwoods, he sees through their eyes. He is able to actually interact with the past with this warging ability, so what if he goes back far enough to see how exactly they built the wall and defeated the White Walkers last time. Perhaps, Bran stays in the past for a very long time and even becomes the Brandon Stark that built the wall itself with the help of the Children of the Forest and the Giants.

13

Sansa Is Pregnant

"I am a part of you now." Those are along the lines of Ramsay's last words to Sansa. Creepy...but...maybe truthful?

Most fans think that Ramsay is alluding to the psychological torture that he's committed on her and that the scars he's left will always be with her. However, there are some fans who theorize that Sansa is actually pregnant with Ramsay Bolton's child. They were married, after all; and Ramsay did do his husbandly duties, albeit in the most terrifying way possible. So what does this mean for Sansa? She's got a baby on the way which she'll eventually love because it'll be her son, and needs someone to help her navigate and ensure security for herself.

14

Bran Is The Three-Eyed-Raven

This is one of the more meta theories on this list. According to some fan theorists, Bran has been teaching himself greensight this entire time.

What if Bran had to go through all of the discovery of his abilities on his own? What if he found a way to fight all his life and gain a vast amount of knowledge? I bet he'd wish he could share that knowledge with his former self. Well, we could be seeing exactly that play out in Bran's current storyline. What if the Three Eyed Raven is actually a future version of Bran, displaced in time through either a form of advanced greensight, or some kind of other magic.

15

Varys Is A Blackfyre

Remember when Varys retells his wonderful origin story? He specifically says: "I heard a voice talk back from the fire." Well, we know that certain powerful spells need king's blood to work...so does Varys have it? Maybe...

During the Targaryen heyday, there was a civil war that erupted called the Dance of the Dragons, which pitted the Targaryens against each other, resulting in the near destruction of the house and nearly all of their dragons. The rebelling house who asserted their claim to the throne was called House Blackfyre, who after their defeat, went to Essos, creating the sellswords, the Golden Company. It is known that the male line of the Blackfyres was ended by Barriston Selmy in the last Blackfyre Rebellion, but it would be entirely possible that Varys could be descended!

16

Cleganebowl

Last season was supposedly the nail in the coffin for Cleganebowl. Not True. In fact, the opposite. All they did was set it up even more.

There are two ways this could happen. The first, Cersei would reinstate Trial By Combat, but would then find herself challenging Beric Dondarrion, or perhaps even Arya, for some alleged crimes. They ask for Trial By Combat. The Hound fights for Arya, and The Mountain for Cersei. The Second, is if Arya and the Hound meet up, it's entirely possible that it will be the Hound's job to distract the Mountain if they plan some kind of "Kill the Queen" plan. Totally doable, given Arya's recent list-clearing activities. Don't hold your breath long, cause Cleganebowl will happen one way or the other.

17

Jon and Dany Will Get Married

With Jon being crowned King In The North, there is a natural next step that we logically think about as we see Dany sailing on her way to Westeros. Will they get together?

While Jon's new parentage technically makes him Dany's nephew–it's definitely a better genetic match than the brothers and sisters tradition. Moreover, Dany can't even have children after her encounter with Mirri Maz Durr back in season one. We know that both Dany and Jon need allies. Jon now has the North, and Dany a growing alliance in the South, consisting of mainly Dorne and the Reach. Dany will land in Dorne, and conquer Westeros from the South up, as Jon expands his allies to the South. Ultimately, they will meet up and ally to each other in order to unite the kingdoms in time for the War for the Dawn.

18

Tyrion Is A Targaryen

It is very well documented that Aerys II Targaryen had the feels for Tywin Lannister's wife Lyanna. In fact, the Mad King had been known to woe that the tradition of the First Night should be so frowned upon.

But what if Aerys actually had his way with Joanna behind Tywin's back? He was the King after all. What if a child came of that union? What if that child was Tyrion? It would put a new kind of spin on why Tywin seems to hate Tyrion with such fervor, as well as explain Tyrion's fascination with dragons, even dreaming of them, a known Targaryen trait. If we go one step further, it would also mean that Tyrion and Dany are siblings, and that Tyrion would in fact be the third head of the dragon, which was part of the prophecy of the Prince That Was Promised.

19

R + L = J + M

One of the most anticipated fan theories is about the most anticipated fan theory. Before season six, we had zero confirmation that Jon was Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen's child, and now we know for sure.

But what if there were twins? What if Meera Reed was Jon's sister? Howland Reed, whom we see save Ned during his duel with Arthur Dayne, is one of Eddard Stark's best friends. But we never hear or see him at all. What if Howland and Eddard don't spend time together in order to keep the twins separate? Perhaps she will be the one to find out about her lineage through Bran, and will go down to Winterfell and reveal it to Jon Snow? It's entirely possible, and some argue even probable.

Do you Jon and Meera could be twins?
