6 Things To Watch Out For When Buying A Pool Table

Buying a pool table for your home or business establishment can be a tough choice. As with any other investment, you will be expecting to get the best bang for the buck. However, since many first time shoppers are not aware of what to watch out for when buying a pool table, we decided to list out a few tips that will help you in this regard.

Slate
A good pool table, like those from brunswick billiards, will typically have a slate which comes with a diamond honed surface. And in case the pool table has a three piece slate, then it is necessary to ensure that they are matched. This simply means that all the three pieces of the slate must be cut from a single slab. Else, it can cause problems in the future. Try to buy a pool table which has a slate width of three-fourths of an inch.

Level
It is very important that you check the level of the pool table. If the level is not proper, then playing on the table will become next to impossible. Ideally, the table must come with leg adjustments that allow for correct leveling. Keep in mind to not move the table too much once it is installed since it can disrupt the leveling.

Felt And Pockets
Check the felts to see if they have been put in its place by stapling or glue. If so, then it is a problem since this will never provide a lasting surface. Instead, make sure that the felt is first glued into place and then tightly screwed. Only then can the surface be expected to last for long. A good quality felt typically contains 20% nylon and 80% wool. You must also look into the pockets used in the table. It must ideally be made from soft rubberized plastic. Avoid tables in which the pockets are made from hard plastic since they are more susceptible to breakage from regular use.

Railing
Inspect the railing to make sure that it has been crafted from hardwood. Diamond billiard tables that use hardwood are less prone to vibration when it gets into contact with the ball. The cushions on the table must have canvass backing as it helps it to adhere to the rail. And in case the surface of the rail is laminated, ensure that it is a high-pressure laminate.

Warranty
An important thing to verify before you finalize the purchase is the warranty offered by the manufacturer. Usually, a table that has been manufactured with the best materials will often come with a lifetime guarantee.

Wood
Ensure that only the highest quality wood is used for the construction of the pool table. Brunswick foosball table and pool tables are usually made from top quality wood like hardwood and so on. This guarantees that the table is extremely durable. In addition, there should be support beams on the table that lock on to cross members and run the entire length of the table.
