How To Plan A Budget Ladakh Tour

Over the past few years, the number of tourists, both domestic and international, visiting this gorgeous heaven has increased. It is one of the most visited places in India, especially for tourists who want to embark on a road-trip or a bike trip. Located in the Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh is known as the ‘Cold Desert’ all over the world. It is especially known for the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and architecture. It shares its borders with Tibet and has adopted a lot of the Tibetan culture. Ladakh is a land with a lot of contrasts. Summers in Ladakh, though still quite cold, are comfortable; whereas, in the winter, the temperature can drop to minus 30 degrees. The months from December to February are usually the worst when it comes to the cold. If you are planning a Ladakh tour in these months, you should be aware that due to very heavy snowfall, the roads are often blocked and in a bad condition. Regardless, Ladakh is a lovely place to visit. We have put together some tips so you can plan a Ladakh tour in a budget! Those tips are:

1)     Travel with a larger group- If you travel with a larger group, a lot of your costs can be avoided. A larger group means there are more people to share the accommodation with. The rooms can be split into groups of 3, thus bringing down the cost. You could also book an entire villa or a bungalow and split the costs. When it comes to traveling within Ladakh and surrounding areas, you could book a mini-bus or a tempo and split the costs between the group, which makes traveling cheaper. If you want to reduce the overall cost even more, consider camping in Ladakh instead of booking hotel rooms.

2)     Travel in a less touristy season- In the months of April to May or August to September, Ladakh sees fewer tourists. So if you travel during these months, you could get discounts on hotel rooms, the amount of people at the best destinations will be fewer, and you do not need to do research on a Ladakh tour that is inexpensive because the cost will automatically reduce during the off-season.

3)     Choose your accommodation properly- Nowadays, Airbnbs, guest houses, and homestay options have become widely popular. They are well-equipped with proper furniture, they are often incredibly clean, and they have comfortable beds. They are also way more affordable than hotels and villas. You might also get homemade food from the owners, which is usually a fusion of Kashmiri and Tibetan cultures.

4)     Book your plane tickets well in advance- If you prefer traveling to Ladakh by flight, you should keep in mind that the airfare is incredibly expensive. However, if you plan your Ladakh tour well in advance and book your tickets a few months prior, you could get really good deals.

5)     Pay for your own food- Usually, when we are in a group, we tend to split the bill by how many people we are with. However, that can get expensive and you might have to pay for something you did not eat. Pay for your own food individually. It can save a lot of money.
We hope this article helps you when you are planning a Ladakh tour. We wish you safe travels and amazing memories!
