When you're not really into this month's book, you hold out hope that a M. Night Shyamalan-style twist is coming ANY page now.

When you're not reading your Book Club book, you find yourself reading...

The first rule of Book Club is...

I walk into Book Club like...

You joined Book Club in search of...

The Eccentric One

The Eccentric One

Your take on the book is as wacky as your personality. You keep the conversation unpredictable. When you get ready to have your say, your fellow book club members freshen up their beverage, sit back, and enjoy the entertainment. No one ever really agrees with your interpretations, but you don't care because your kitteh Maximillian is always in agreement, except when sprawled right on top of the page you're hungrily reading.

The one who's always blown away by the symbolism

The one who's always blown away by the symbolism

You can't even with this book. OMG WTH. Of course the "A" stands for Adultery. That changes everything. You guys. That changes EVERYTHING. You love the feeling that accompanies peeling back the layers of a complex book. Authors are legit WIZARDS.

THE SKEPTIC

THE SKEPTIC

You are a straight shooter who takes things at face value. When someone starts in on the hidden sub-plot, heaps a bunch of symbolism on some random line in the book, or wants to explore alternate endings, you can't understand why they have to complicate matters. Why can't people just read the words on the page and leave all that Look-n-Find nonsense to the Where's Waldos over in juvenile fiction? You bring a dose of realism to Book Club, and that's something every good one needs.

You're actually a bonafide book lover

You're actually a bonafide book lover

Book Club is your jam. You read the book twice to really soak up the meaning and have a "higher level" discussion. In the days leading up to Book Club, you get a happy bounce in your step. You get butterflies in your stomach. You think that having lengthy, intelligent conversations about literature with people who care about books as much as you do is just about as close to paradise as it gets. You're most likely to be the organizer of the club and the cheerleader making sure everyone stays on board. Heck, you could host it, too.

Imbibing and jiving on books go hand-in-hand for you. You arrive at Book Club ready to crack a spine, uncork, and get your snack on. About halfway through a tumbler of adult beverage, you've usually reached your first epiphany about the book's hidden theme. You don't go overboard because just like the proper book aficionado takes their time through the finer points of a plot, no good book club member treats a fine vintage like you're at the Kwik Shop browsing tabloids and hitting a Slushee. You arrive with enough for everyone and provide the necessary fuel for a fiery discussion.

You never read the book

You never read the book

You WANT to read the book. You really do. But secretly you kinda enjoy NOT reading the book and just coming to Book Club and listening to a bunch of really smart, interesting people talk about a book that they all seem to get so much gratification from, when you couldn't keep your eyes open past page 3 no matter how many times you tried. And you tried. But, hey, some people are just Cliff's Notes people, and you've embraced this quality about yourself. Your fellow members know you don't read the book, but as long as you don't steer the discussion off topic, they're cool with that. Plus, you're a really great listener.

You're the life of the Book Club

You're the life of the Book Club

Your Book Club really gets going once you walk in the door. You're a book-lover, sure. But it's your people skills that really shine when it's time to parse through this meeting's topic du jour because you always lighten the mood with a well-timed joke, and know exactly how to keep the good times rolling. You're a valuable asset to your book club because, at the end of the day, it's all about having a chill time and celebrating the awesomeness that is an engaged congregation of bibliophiles.

You belong in a book club! Get one.
