If you purchased the original PlayStation 3 you just found yourself $65 richer for your trouble.

Several years back, Sony removed the ability to install Linux onto the console. Users that bought the system specifically for that feature decided to sue Sony and got together to file a class action lawsuit.

After years of battling back and for in court, Sony finally relented and settled the case for a whooping $3.75 million. Because this was a class action suit, everyone that owned/owns the original PS3 model is free to a portion of the claim.

There are some sticking points if you want Sony to cut you a check. You only have until April 15th ti file your claim over on the official settlement page. You'll also need the original serial number for your PS3 phat, as well as the PSN ID associated with it.

If you meet all those requirements you'll be eligible for a $65 check from the settlement that you can use to buy yourself a game, or two, for that PS4 you probably now have.
