Amazon's New Six-Story Building Will Include A Homeless Shelter

After years of scrutiny for its failure to contribute to the civic life of Seattle, which has the country's third highest homeless population, Amazon has decided to donate half the space of their new building as a homeless shelter. What do you think about this?
In 2012, Microsoft donated $4 million to United Way, Boeing gave $3.1 million, and Nordstrom around $320,000, but Amazon made no donations that year to the homeless of the city of Seattle, which has one of the worst homelessness problems in the country largely due to the shipping giant, which drove up housing costs with its army of highly paid tech employees.
Now, however, Amazon is attempting to change the bad rap its gotten for public service by donating about half of its new six-story facility to Mary's Place, a non-profit that operates several family shelters. The new facility on Amazon's premises will include space for about 65 families or 200 homeless women and children. You can watch the announcement video here:

Some, however, find the video as odd and uncomfortable as touching. Chris O'Brien at tech website VentureBeat said:
What makes it uncomfortable for me is the Oprah-like surprise that seems obviously designed to create a viral video moment.
