Some Are Calling Beyonce's Grammy Defeat Racist
Even Adele thought Beyonce deserved the award for Album of the Year. Do you agree that Beyonce lost because her album was "just too black"?
When Adele accepted the Grammy for Album of the Year, she did so strangely halfheartedly, and in her acceptance speech, she stated that she believed that Beyonce should have won with her album Lemonade, saying:
I can’t possibly accept this award. I'm very humbled and very grateful and gracious, but... The artist of my life is Beyoncé, and this album to me, the 'Lemonade' album, was just so monumental.
Adele even went on to discuss how important Beyonce and her album, Lemonade, are from a racial standpoint.
The way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves.

Others are now questioning whether Beyonce's loss for Album of the Year is due primarily to racism. One notable author who believes so, Kevin Powell, spoke on the subject, saying:
Beyonce's 'Lemonade' made a lot of people uncomfortable, because it is so political, so spiritual, so unapologetically black, and so brutally honest about love, self-love, trust, betrayal.
