To play the pinata game, hang the pinata in a designated place and allow the children to stand in a single line three to five meters away. The traditional way to play the pinata is to blindfold the first kid in line, gently spin it around three times and then give it a stick so it can hit the piñata. Every child has three trials to do so, and if it did not manage it, the next child on the line waits for its turn. As each blindfolded child, one at a time, tries to hit and break the piñata, it is very important to make sure that everyone keeps a safe distance. Children are curious, and they may come close to the kid with the stick, putting their selves in danger.
If the children are preschoolers, you should maybe forget the option of blindfolding them because then, the game might be too difficult for them. You can just spin each kid around and wait to hit the pinata with the stick. In this case, give the child the opportunity of trying to break the pinata two times. For preschoolers, it is not easy to break the pinata when they hit it with the stick, so be patient. A good solution to think is also the pull string piñata, which is great for the little ones. This kind of pinata has many strings, and every child can pull only one string. The greatest thing about that is that only one string will release the filler, so the children champ at the bit. The bonus with the pull string piñatas is that they remain intact and can still be part of the decoration.
When the pinata is broken, make sure the child, blindfolded or not, has stopped swinging the stick, and then, let everyone gather the toys and the candies. This is the highlight of the party, and parents will enjoy it as much as the children, who, without exception, love taking turns trying to hit the pinata so they can get the toys and the lollies.
