9.15am: Snow and ice warning for Derbyshire
A Met Office yellow alert for snow and ice remains in force throughout Sunday.
The warning states: Snow showers are likely to continue throughout Sunday, with an increased chance that longer spells of snow will affect some areas.
"Southern and eastern regions look most vulnerable overnight and early on Sunday and then southwestern areas of England and south Wales into the daytime.
"Any heavier snow will become largely confined to southwest England through the day.
"There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel. Damage to trees or other structures increases the chance that power cuts could occur, especially over southern and southwestern parts of England.
"There is a small chance that some rural communities could become cut off. Icy surfaces increase the risk of accidents and injuries. Significant wind chill and drifting will be added factors, especially over hills."
9.10am: Weather conditions set to improve
The Met Office say the strong, bitterly cold winds will remain throughout Sunday, with sunny spells and scattered snow showers. The snow showers will gradually become lighter and isolated through the morning to leave a mostly dry afternoon.

Derbyshire police is continuing to advise people to only make necessary journeys following the overnight snowfall, which is continuing in many areas this morning.
A spokesperson said: "The multi-agency operation to keep roads as clear as possible via gritting and ploughing is ongoing.
"However, with temperatures scarcely expected to top freezing and strong winds continuing to blow, driving conditions will remain treacherous - both in terms of roads and visibility.
"If you do intend to travel today, please plan ahead and think about possible delays or disruptions. Keep an eye on the forecast and make sure you have warm clothing in the car, along with water, a shovel and a torch.
"Take care when driving during wintery conditions and if you see a road closed sign, don’t ignore it. If you continue to drive on a closed road and you have an accident, it may invalidate your insurance."
