Carveries are the perfect option for you if a pick-and-choose Sunday roast is the meal you are itching for your next lunchtime out with family and friends.
You won't have to go far to find a mouth-watering carvery in Derbyshire that's just right for you; here are 10 of the best that TripAdvisor has to offer.
The White Swan, Littleover, Derby
This independent real ale pub in Littleover has a carvery meal "to die for", according to numerous reviewers. Served every Sunday from midday until 4pm, The White Swan's highly-recommended carvery offers a locally-sourced choice of either beef, roast pork or turkey crown, alongside a generous selection of six vegetables, roast (and new) potatoes, mash, homemade stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and their traditional homemade gravy. They also offer carvery cobs filled with beef, pork or turkey, served with stuffing, roast or new potatoes.
The Bear Inn, Alderwasley, Belper
One visitor labelled The Bear Inn's carvery "the best Carvery we have had until now". Their carvery offers four meats - gammon, beef, pork and turkey - which you can choose more than one option from, as well as a great selection of vegetables and sides which are free to top up as many times as you want, meaning there probably won't be room for desert.
The John Thompson Inn & Brewery, Ingleby
Not only does the family-owned John Thompson Inn & Brewery claim to be the longest-established microbrewery in the UK, but it is also home to a "beautifully cooked" Sunday carvery, as described by one reviewer, which is served from noon til 2pm Tuesday to Saturday, and for an extra half-an-hour on Sundays.
The Elm Tree, Heath, Chesterfield
Those living in the Chesterfield area won't have to venture far for a fabulous carvery, served every Sunday from midday until 3pm. The Elm Tree offers a selection of three meats, as well as the usual suspects of roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and a wide variety of vegetables to tuck into.
The Coopers Arms, Weston-on-Trent, Derby
The Coopers Arms offers a lavish range of meats for their widely loved carvery. Diners can choose from one of beef, pork loin, honey mustard-glazed ham, chicken breast and lamb shank - or three if you go for Coopers Choice - all served with locally-sourced vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and sage and onion stuffing.
Rose and Crown, Ashbourne
If you're searching for "carvery heaven", the Rose and Crown in Ashbourne might be the perfect pit-stop for a Sunday dinner. At a competitive price, they offer a carvery one customer says to be "cooked to perfection", although you'll have to book in advance if you fancy stopping by.
The Punchbowl, West Hallam, Ilkeston
West Hallam's much-loved carvery could rival any other in Derbyshire. With "first class food and service" to look forward to, diners at The Punchbowl can choose between roast beef, pork or turkey, pork sausage as well as nut roast for vegetarians. Also on offer are a huge variety of potatoes, vegetables, and even cauliflower cheese. The Punchbowl serves their carvery at noon, 1.30pm, 3pm and 4.30pm every Sunday.
The Railway, Buxton
Located in the UK's highest market town and in the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District, The Railway at Buxton offers "excellent value" for their carvery, which comes with a choice between beef, turkey and honey roast gammon, and room to pile on extra meat, yorkshire pudding and stuffing for an additional £1.75. Of course, you also get a generous selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes to go with your carvery.
The Village Inn, Marehay, Ripley
The Village Inn will have something for everyone with their plentiful carveries. Their carvery menu offers four different meats - Derbyshire beef, turkey breast, pork loin and gammon - as well as a brie and sweet chilli parcel or mushroom and spinach pancake for the vegetarians who don't want to miss out on a great Sunday dinner. This carvery is served every Sunday from noon til 2.30pm; one customer said it was "the best Sunday lunch carvery I have ever had".
All Inn, Staveley, Chesterfield
If you're after a "beautiful carvery" with "plenty of choice", then the All Inn carvery in Staveley might be the place for you. Customers have praised All Inn not only for their fantastic carvery, but also their high-quality, "warm" and "friendly" service.
