While the ceremony itself might seem a while away – taking place on January 17, 2019, in the Great Ballroom at Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel, on London’s Park Lane – the process starts right now, with you.

Nominations are now open for you, our travel agent readers, to put forward the suppliers that have stood above the rest over the past year. This may be because they’ve supported you in winning a big booking, done a fantastic job for your customers, or impressed you and your colleagues by pushing the boundaries to be the best at what they do.

Plus, there are three special awards categories, recognising the individuals and innovators who make a difference to our industry. Find out the criteria and how to nominate your colleagues for those categories.

The Globe Travel Awards is truly the mark of excellence across every sector of the travel industry, with awards up for grabs in a host of categories. So whatever branch of the business you work in, now’s the time to make sure your voice is heard by nominating your top suppliers – simply go to: globetravelawards.co.uk

“The Globe Travel Awards is truly the biggest event of the year for any travel brand. There may be a wide range of awards out there but this is the one that matters most – and that’s because it’s voted for by the travel trade, the people who know this industry better than anyone.

While the buzz on the night might centre on the celebrity host, the incredible entertainment and the scores of social media selfies taken by guests catching up with friends and colleagues across the industry, there’s only one thing that really matters at the end of the night, and that’s who gets to go home with that coveted Globes trophy.

It only takes five minutes to nominate the suppliers you think deserve to win, so I would urge every agent to do so, so that when you see your favourites pick up an award come January, you’ll know you’ve played your part in recognising how much they have achieved."

Stuart Parish, UK managing director, Jacobs Media Group, owner of Travel Weekly.

Star ratings

Which celebrities will take to the stage at the Globe Travel Awards 2019?

There’s no better stage to be on than the Globe Travel Awards, which not only draw the brightest and the best from across the travel industry, but also attract some of the biggest names in entertainment.

The Travel Weekly events team is keeping January’s big-name host and top-drawer acts a secret, but rest assured they’re hard at work putting together the best night in the travel calendar.

You just have to look back at some of the surprise celebrity comperes from the past few years to see the calibre of our hotly-anticipated hosts.

Whether you’re a fan of Alan Carr or namesake Jimmy, cheeky James Corden or even cheekier Jack Whitehall, laugh‑a-minute Michael McIntyre, effervescent Dame Edna Everage or last year’s hilarious Harry Hill, there’s no doubt the Globe Travel Awards are the best gig in the travel diary.

If you fancy putting forward your guess for who will be this year’s celebrity host, sponsored by Cosmos, tweet us at @travelweekly with your best suggestion – though we can’t promise to tell you if you’re right!

It’s not just the host that has the Globes audience rolling in the aisles, though. We pull out all the stops to get the very best entertainment on stage throughout the evening event.

From music superstars Lemar and Louisa Johnson to dance floor fillers Fleur East and DJ Trevor Nelson, Strictly Come Dancing stars to Chinese lion dancers, celebrity chefs Marco Pierre White and Eric Lanlard to compelling magic acts and more – there’s never a dull moment at the Globe Travel Awards.

And the award goes to…

The Globe Travel Awards recognise the very best suppliers in the business, across a host of industry sectors.

It’s up to YOU to nominate your top performers, from cruise to aviation, tour operators to tech innovators, hotel chains to trade sales teams – and plenty more besides.

The litmus test should be this: if you think they’re at the very top of their game, providing a service that goes above and beyond their competitors, then they deserve to be put forward for a place on the shortlist.

Take a look at the full list of awards – there are 35 separate honours across eight categories – to see which suppliers spring to mind.

Just remember to put them forward before the closing date of September 28, so your nomination is counted when the shortlists are revealed in Travel Weekly’s special Globes voting supplement.
