Tokyo will be the next city to host the Summer Olympics in 2020, so at the Rio closing ceremonies, there was a hand off of Olympic responsibilities to Japan, and they chose two national icons to accept the challenge.

In a video that first showed athletes in Tokyo, the focus soon went to everyone's favorite Nintendo hero, Mario.

3

Rushing through Tokyo to make it to the Rio closing ceremonies on time, we see Mario dive into a green pipe...

4

But as he pops out of the green pipe in real life in Rio, he magically transforms into Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe!
