Hera pretended not to believe her, and planted seeds of doubt in Semele's mind. Curious, Semele asked Zeus to grant her a boon. Though Zeus begged her not to ask this, she persisted and he was forced by his oath to comply. Mortals, however, cannot look upon the gods without incinerating, and she perished, consumed in lightning-ignited flame.

However, as soon as Hera saw this, she immediately became suspicious and came down from Mt. Olympus. Zeus did some quick thinking and changed Io's form from a lovely maiden, into that of a beautiful white heifer. Hera found Zeus standing next to the beast and claimed that he had just found it. Seeing right through this deception, Hera claimed she liked the cow so much that she wanted to have it as a present. As turning such a reasonable request down would have given the whole thing away, Zeus presented her with the cow. Once in possession of poor Io, she arranged for Argus, the hundred eyed monster, to watch over her.
Zeus thereupon sent the god Hermes, who lulled Argus to sleep and killed him. Hera then sent a gadfly to torment Io, who therefore wandered all over the earth, crossed the Ionian Sea, swam the strait that was thereafter known as the Bosporus, and at last reached Egypt, where she was restored to her original form and gave birth to Epaphus.

The other continent, which was nameless, said that her birth was not important and that Zeus would give Europa to her. Disturbed by the dream, Europa woke up in the early hours and did not go back to sleep.
The next morning, Europa summoned her closest companions, who were all daughters of nobility and of her age. It was a beautiful day and they went off gathering flowers by the sea. Zeus noticed this charming group, particularly Europa, who was the prettiest of the maidens and upon seeing her he was instantly struck with love for her. Not wanting to frighten the princess, Zeus transformed himself into a white bull and mixed in with her father's herds. The bull was more beautiful than any other the women had seen; a bull that smelled of flowers and lowed beautifully; a bull so obviously gentle that all the maidens rushed to stroke and pet it. The bull laid down in front of Europa and she slid onto its back. Instantly, the bull charged off, plunging into the sea, and began to swim rapidly from the shore. Zeus carried her all the way from Phoenicia to the island of Crete. There he regained his human form and coupled with her under an evergreen tree.
It is said that when Europa died, Zeus transformed her into a star complex and he himself took again the shape of the white bull to merge in the complex. The Taurus Constellation is believed to be the form of Zeus.

At the time, Danae was childless and, meaning to keep her so, King Acrisius shut her up in a tall brass tower with a single richly adorned chamber, but with no doors or windows, just a sky-light as the source of light and air. With just enough room for food to be sliped in for her. She was buried in this tomb, never to see the light again. However, Zeus, the king of the gods, desired her, and came to her in the form of golden rain which streamed in through the roof of the subterranean chamber and down into her womb. Soon after, their child Perseus was born.
Unwilling to provoke the wrath of the gods or the Furies by killing his offspring and grandchild, King Acrisius cast Danaë and Perseus into the sea in a wooden chest. The sea was calmed by Poseidon and, at the request of Zeus, the pair survived. They were washed ashore on the island of Seriphos, where they were taken in by Dictys, who raised Perseus to manhood. Polydectes, the king of the island, was charmed by Danaë, but she had no interest in him. Consequently, he agreed not to marry her only if her son would bring him the head of the Gorgon Medusa. Using Athena's shield, Hermes's winged sandals and Hades' helmet of invisibility, Perseus was able to evade Medusa's gaze and decapitate her.
Later, after Perseus brought back Medusa's head and rescued Andromeda, the oracle's prophecy came true. He started for Argos, but learning of the prophecy, instead went to Larissa, where athletic games were being held. By chance, an aging Acrisius was there and Perseus accidentally struck him on the head with his discus, fulfilling the prophecy.
