Which NYC Borough Do You Belong In?

New York City is a big place, with five major divisions (boroughs) that are pretty much their own cities individually. Brooklyn or Bronx? Manhattan or Staten? Queens doesn't have a rhyming partner, but maybe you belong there anyway! Let's figure out who YOU are and find where you fit in the massive puzzle we call Gotham.

Are you rich?

Are you a published genius and the center of attention at dinner parties?

Who are you in this argument?

How does this picture make you feel?

You've just walked into this party and you...

You've just walked into this party and you...

Which fictional New York world are you looking for?

Which classic New York anthem plays in your head when you think of the city?

Which place most resembles where you're coming from? P.S. If you're interested in getting completely AWAY from everything you know, choose the answer that reflects what you're trying to get TO.

What drink would you like to be able to find easily in your neighborhood?

The Bronx

The Bronx

The Bronx, the only borough with a definite article to introduce itself. No one ever moves to just "Bronx". Unless your friends live in uptown Manhattan, forget you know them because they're not coming to visit you here. It's bucolic in places, historic in others, but still reppin' some old school New York stank where you care to find it. For the O.G. who doesn't mind a quiet stroll in the park, or zoo, sometimes.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn

Brooklyn, land of a million Bob Dylans (and a horde of Lordes), is currently the Wal-Mart for cool, the IKEA of style and 1000% more interesting than just about anywhere else. It is also incredibly pretentious. A bawdy joke and a sober haiku sewn into it's jeans vest jacket, Brooklyn is an acid trip spray-painted on a corrugated metal roll-up bodega gate. Evidently you belong here. Think on that for a bit.

Manhattan

Manhattan

Manhattan may have been quietly replaced by the theme park version of itself in the last decade but it still has some charm. The shining beacon on a hill, Manhattan has the best EVERYTHING and it can all be yours for a small fortune (a medium-sized one if you want your OWN apartment.)

Staten Island

Staten Island

To most New Yorkers, Staten Island is a ferry terminal with some houses behind it. Meanwhile, Staten Island residents BBQ in their spacious backyards after walking from the beach where they heard the crashing of waves instead of car horns and someone's angry drunken aunt screaming about what Tonya said at the coin laundry. Staten Island, the land of retired cops and New Yorkers that can't stand New York, is a lot nicer than you think it is, and is essentially the Boca del Vista of Gotham.

Queens

Queens

Queens is Brooklyn's TJ Maxx wholesale outlet. Mind you, it hasn't always been and there's plenty to recommend it for. But in 2015, Astoria, Ridgewood, Fresh Pond, Flushing and Long Island City are essentially the hand-me-downs Brooklyn bestows upon its loyal Personal Assistant. You know who looks fresh in those hand-me-downs? Queens. Cheaper, nicer, in a lot of places more convenient than traveling from Brooklyn, Queens is on a resurgence and is totally the place I'd plant a flag if I was interested in being smug about it later.
