The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been one of the most popular hatchbacks in India since it was first launched more than a decade ago and is due for a facelift next year. However, before the new generation of the Swift hits the market, the Indo-Japanese automaker has introduced a limited run trim.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift competes against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the Mahindra KUV100. Although we felt that the designing had become a little too long-drawn, the stylishness of the limited edition could be enough to throw a good face off on its competitors.
Perhaps, the introduction of this limited edition Maruti Swift 2017 could be a move by the company to clear the existing stocks or have the final laugh before the new model takes up the baton. Whatever, it may be, this new model looks utmost attractive just with the addition of new paint decals. The limited edition Maruti Swift price is 5.45 lakh for the petrol variant and 6.34 lakh for the diesel variant (ex-showroom Delhi) and is slotted between the entry-level LXi/LDi and mid-range VXi/VDi trims.
So let’s find out about everything that has changed in this limited edition Maruti Suzuki Swift.
The changes in the aesthetics
The changes in the Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition come largely on the exterior side. The front bonnet, side section and the roof get a good number of decals. There aren’t many differences in the designing aspect. It gets the same sweptback headlamps and sharp front lip spoiler.
Moreover, when you enter this limited edition model, you will find that the seat upholstery gets similar decal-like colour strips, which extends on the steering wheel wrap as well. This, of course, adds a bit of sportiness to the car, much like the discontinued Swift Decca edition. The floor carpet mat also gets the same colour decal matching the exterior purple and grey inserts.
The new features
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition brings about a new addition to the list of features. Borrowed from the likes of Ignis, Baleno and the S-Cross, the limited edition model too get the attractive touchscreen infotainment system, which supports both Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Engine
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition runs on the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine develops a maximum power of 83 bhp at 6,000 revs per minute and a peak torque of 115 Nm at 4,000 revs per minute. On the other hand, the diesel engine produces a maximum power of 74 bhp at 4,000 revolutions per minute along with a maximum torque of 190 Nm at 2,000 revs per minute. Talking about the transmission, it gets the same 5-speed manual transmission gearbox transmitting the power to the front wheels.
Are the changes significant?
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition is indeed a fresh offering from the company. Though nothing much has changed barring the addition of colour lines and a touchscreen infotainment system, the way the company portray it is praiseworthy. Having said that, the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is a very attractive thing to have. Currently, at that price tag, the Indo-Japanese carmaker sells the entry-level Baleno and Ignis, both of which lack the touchscreen system. Even the base Maruti Suzuki Dzire (Rs. 5.5 lakhs) lacks this feature. Hence, the Limited Edition model is expected to run out-of-stock in quick time.
