14-year-old Deserae Turner gave a press conference to announce her miraculous recovery and return home after she was shot in the head and left for dead two months ago. Wearing a shirt that says "happy" to further affirm her positive attitude, seated between her parents, Matt and April, Turner announced to the room that she was "tougher than a bullet."

I am so thankful to be here today, to be alive. I told my dad that I am tougher than a bullet. It is still with me today.

Turner was found two months ago, hours after having been shot in the head by two sixteen-year-old boys, who supposedly committed the heinous crime because they were annoyed by her frequent Snapchats, also stealing her belongings. After long days in a medically induced coma, Turner, amazingly managed to survive and recover, although there are still pieces of the bullet in her head. But she declined to speak about her attackers in the press conference. Instead, she spoke only of gratitude, joy, and the goodness of humanity.

I would like others to know that people are kind and they do care about us and are concerned about us, even when we may think no one is there.

Her father, Matt, echoed her sentiments, saying:

What a great day. Because of the love and care of so many, we are taking our beautiful, courageous daughter home today... We have seen and felt the very best of humanity touch our family's life over the past several weeks.
