The romantic musical drama, Mohabbatein, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan released on this day back in 2000. In spite of being a 3.5-hour long film, it became a huge hit, and the songs of the movie became equally famous among old and young people alike.

The costumes and clothes worn by Amitabh Bachchan in the movie were designed by Karan Johar.

This was the second directorial venture from Aditya Chopra after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

This was the first movie in which Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan appeared for the first time in a Bollywood movie.

The movie was shot in India and England. The set for the school Gurukul shown in the movie was erected at Whiteshire, England. Parts of the movie were also shot in Oxford and Cambridge universities.

The late Sridevi was approached to play the love interest of Amitabh Bachchan, but she turned down the role. After which the part was scraped from the movie.

During the filming of the song ‘Aakhein Khule’, Jugal Hansraj fractured his foot and had to wear a cast for rest of the filming of the song.

Before this movie, Amitabh Bachchan was struggling as an actor and was near bankruptcy with his production house. With this movie, he reinstated himself as a mature actor who can rule the box office.

Shah Rukh Khan said yes to the movie without hearing the script.

Jugal Hansraj who was also in this movie made his debut with the movie Aa Gaale Lag Ja in 1994. He has also acted in the movie Masum as a child actor alongside Naseeruddin Shah.
