The Wizard
The Wizard
The Wizard is an overtly confident, sometimes blunt risk taker who sees aggression as a legitimate method of negotiating.
They have no problem making money, even in very large amounts, but considerable problems keeping it. They tend to be ‘easy come easy go’.
Wizards like to be ‘on the edge’ and consider money to be merely a tool to get what they want out of life. They often have a secret love affair with systems, but are not really capable of sticking with one long enough for it to pay dividends over the long haul so they change systems often.
Wizards are great at ‘seeing’ opportunities that others can’t, acting on them and turning them into winners. Despite that, they never really take anything to its fullest expression because they have emotionally moved on to the next exciting adventure.
Generous to a fault, they have no problem picking up the tab for dinner or accepting that someone else has. They actually prefer to be a benefactor than a recipient of financial aid because it convinces them that they are in control – a feeling they yearn for but suspect they haven’t earned. Hence the constant surging towards a target or goal that is never quite reached.
Wizards appear truly magical to the Promoters and Glue’s because of their ability to rise above the hum drum of the financial aspects of life and live it on their own terms. Architects hate their spontaneity and free for all attitude.
An older Wizard could keep you up all night with stories of fortunes lost. Listen carefully – not only will you learn plenty – you won’t hear an ounce of bitterness in their voice.
The Architect
The Architect
The Architect is an intellectually gifted person with a serious grasp on economic realities. They master their finances with rationale, plans, sequences, graphs, charts and systems.
Their rational, analytical nature can be a great strength, but the downside is they can’t turn it off. They’re often confused by emotion because it doesn’t ‘make sense’ from a detached, rational point of view.
Skeptical by nature, Architects don’t ‘buy’ anything unless it can be proven from three separate viewpoints.
Blunt on the outside and soft on the inside, Architects understand the basics of life and money and simply get on with it. This means they operate from a budget, which has had considerable effort dedicated to its parameters.
While Architects are capable of sticking to the limits of the budget with ease and aplomb (they’d say ‘why would you have one if you don’t stick to it?’), they are equally willing to spend ferociously within it.
If the money is there for a new flat screen television, they will buy the biggest and best the money will allow and not think for a moment about saving a few hundred dollars on a smaller or less optioned model. But beware – there will be no new television until the systems within their financial machinations deliver another dollop of cash designated for that purpose.
Investing in the stock market can be difficult for Architects because they know that no company is as well looked after, as it would be if there were in charge.
Their skepticism may be well founded, but you’ll see them stuffing around forever before making a decision. An Architect will only lose out financially by missing opportunities they took too long to analyse.
They generally don’t like these aspects of their character and will openly say so, followed by ‘but there doesn’t seem to be a proven method for change’.
The Glue
The Glue
The Glues are salt of the earth, risk averse people who make every decision based on ‘not getting it wrong’. They’re the unsung heroes of the economy because they ‘hang in there’.
Better savers than most other types, they experience great difficulty deciding what to do with their savings account.
Putting the savings onto the mortgage becomes a default position because of their inherent desire for stability and low risk. They’ll be thinking, ‘at least we haven’t gambled it all on some chancy scheme’ or ‘at least we wont have to worry about mortgage payments’.
The security of such a move is too much to resist so leverage is something that Glues constantly miss out on. Because of this, they diligently labour away at dollars per hour jobs, incrementally creeping towards ‘security’ that will take them an entire working life to generate.
The Glue knows that they can’t go too far wrong so they fail to educate themselves in ‘complex money matters’, which makes them ripe for the picking by unscrupulous scheme peddlers as they get older.
The Glue who has held down the same job for the last twenty years will often place their life savings into a business they have no idea about and no experience with. As a result, they’ll lose 90% of the money before admitting they need advice to save the rest. This advice is invariably that they should never have bought that particular business.
Glues are generous, loving, warm, kind hearted people who will give you the shirt off their back.
They can look after pennies but are often confused by pounds.
A Glue who loves you will loyally look after you forever – but they may struggle to do it financially.
In every other aspect of life that counts and some that don’t – they are the masters of love and care.
The Promoter
The Promoter
The Promoter is smooth, suave and sophisticated in appearance and language. They’re much more likely to have unrealised potential than any other financial state.
Their Hugo Boss suit will no doubt disguise worn or used shoes that are due for an upgrade once the next big cheque comes in.
These lump sums do quite often appear, but they are swallowed up in paying off outstanding and slightly embarrassing old debts. Those debts generally accumulate because the well articulated wealth creation plan has not quite been put into action yet. The lack of action occurs because of current unusual, unexpected and extraordinarily pressing expenses.
Promoters know the value of saving but have chosen a lifestyle that slightly exceeds their income level (or ability) and have difficulty admitting it. While they’re quite capable of managing a lifestyle well above the average, the income to match is consistently a bit short.
‘Catch-ups’ such as tax returns, consolidation loans, equity gained in house sales etc. are all swallowed quickly and the situation returns to normal.
And what is normal?
“We are starting our proper savings plan next month – as soon as we get over this current hurdle”.
Endearing, loveable and easy to be with, the Promoter name is only applicable to their financial life. The rest is fun-filled, exciting, warm, articulate and enjoyable in the extreme. Promoters are the pick of the types for companionship, friendliness and approachability.
