Reaching up to 14ft in length, the Great White has attacked more people than any other.

2

Tiger shark

These are known to be both curious and aggressive when they encounter humans, and rank just below the Great White in number of known attacks.

3

Shortfin Mako

With a speed of up to 20mph these are the fastest of any shark. Their population has been reduced due to the popularity of shark fin soup.

4

Oceanic Whitetip Shark

The Florida Museum says this shark 'should be treated with extreme caution' and is primarily found offshore.

5

Bull Shark

Known to have attacked 69 people, experts believe the number could be much higher - potentially more than the Great White.
