Wine is one of the gifts that you can present it to your loved ones and it could become special if you add a handmade touch while gifting wine bottles with cute fabric reusable wine paper bags!

These bags can be stitched up in minutes can be made with scraps as well. So, how can you make a reusable wine bag?

Here is the step-by-step process of it:

Cut Out the Fabric

The first step is to select the fabric that you want to sew and cut four pieces of it measuring 18”X7”. You could also use solid ones on one side and printed on the other. Any fabric will do, even upholstery fabric or denim will work. Just have fun with the mixture of fabrics.

Sew Them Together

In order to create a generously sized bag, use 1/4” seam. Although, if your fabrics are smaller, then you can create a shorter bag by simply measuring the wine bottles which would typically be 10”. while the bag below drawstring will require about 1.5” longer than that as to create a box shape at the bottom and cutting off some length.

Then mark an opening 1” wide about 12” up from the bottom and after that break the stitching at that point, as this is the point where the drawstring will go. At last, backstitch at those openings, so the seam is secure.

Stitch and Trim

Pin in the side seam and bottom seam together to make a triangle and mark a horizontal line 1.5” from the point. Stitch across the line and this will create a box shape at the bottom of the bag. Repeat this same process to the other side as well.

Trim the excess part to reduce the bulk and create a flat bottom surface.

Pin and Stitch Channel for Drawstring

In order to mark the channel for stitching, pin the two bags together along the mid-point of where the channel and then stitch 1/2” either side of the row of pins.

Sew Top Edge

Sew the top edges of the bag together and insert the drawstring into the channel and you are done!

At last, you can put a wine bottle inside the bag and gift it to someone special. Moreover, if you are not good at stitching, you can buy reusable shopping bags in Canada and then gift it to someone.
