Monokuma, the school Headmaster who is a sadistic robot bear informs the students about the fact that they will have to live forever on the premises of the school with only one possibility of escape; murdering another student and getting away with it.
In the event of a murder, should the murderer fail to cover his or her tracks such that the crime is discovered, a class trial is held. In the trial, the remaining students decide who the murderer is. Upon successful identification of the murderer, the culprit is executed and the killing game the proceeds. If the culprit is incorrectly identified by the class, the murderer is acquitted but the other students will be executed.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, which is a sequel to the aforementioned plot, has a quite similar premise. The events of its story however happen on Jabberwock, an island known for its tropical characteristics. Usami, a rabbit, takes sixteen students to the island under the guise of a field trip to help classmates familiarize and get acquainted to each other. Monokuma, however had other plans; he appears on the scene and turns it into a killing affair. The main character in the story, Hinata, is portrayed as having no memory of his talents but has to battle his way out the island.
The spin-off to the first two stories gives an account of events that place between the first two games. It also has an interesting storyline to captivate patrons. Makoto’s little sister who goes by the name Komaru Naegi and her comrade Toko Fukawa are inhabitants of city characterized by the influence of Monokuma robots. They constantly battle a group of children from the elementary branch of Hope’s Peak Academy known as the Warriors of Hope.

The Warriors of Hope control the Monokuma robots attacking the city and their long-term plan is to take over the world by murdering all adults.
5. Shirokuma and Kurokuma
Shirokuma and Kurokuma are a variation in the Monokuma “species”. They are built having artificial intelligence capabilities. Shirokuma is a white bear with shy tendencies who helps in the resistance and shows a dislike for people getting into vices. Kurokuma however has an evil, gangster-like personality and serves as an advisor to the Warriors. They are both under the control of Alter Ego Junko who plans to use them for the furtherance of her plans. Izuru destroys them and takes pieces of the robots to Jabberwock Island in his bid to destroy Junko.
6. Haiji Towa
He is a leader of a resistance group that constantly battles the Warriors of Hope. Although he is a leader of a resistance, he character is portrayed as cowardly man even with his alliances with forces attempting to keep order in the city. He has a strong fear of the Future Foundation and quite rightly so, since his father’s company built the Monokuma robots.
