2017 In Review

One of the most tragic and shocking stories of 2017 was the massacre that happened in Las Vegas. When Stephen Paddock shot and wounded over 500 people and murdered around 58 others from a hotel window. The along with a string of mass shooting before and after this left America devastated, many Americans including myself were sadly just waiting for the next one.

Stranger Things was no contest the best television show of 2017,it's honestly not fair how it failed to make many list despite it's popularity. The show is consistently for the acting to writing and story line. Stranger Things has rightfully received critical praise as it's been on Netflix. Hopefully Stranger Things makes more list next time.

After actress Ambra Battilana Gutierrez captured Weinstein admitting to assault with a hidden recorder, a flood of other sexual predators were exposed. The extend of what Harvey did has been know for decades in Hollywood, it was basically an open secret. Comedians made jokes about years prior,that illustrates just how well known the abuse was. It was the exposing of Harvey Weinstein that popularized the #metoo campaign,that made thousands of other women feel free to tell their story. Now this a abuse of power is being exposed and people such as Weinstein's power being taken away.

Lil Peep's (Gustav Ahr) death shocked thousands of fans, when on Nov 15th he died from a drug overdose at the age of 22. in Arizona peep appeared to have died from a Xanax overdose,the Xanax appeared to be laced with fentanyl. Ahr's death wake up those in rap to the the glamorization of drugs in their music, though Ahr's preventable death.

Recently Amazon a major company has put up jobs locally in Austin, TX. This choice my Amazon left people living in Austin divided, some people thought it's a great thing because jobs and some thought it was terrible due to possibly a lot of people relocating to Austin. I don't believe that more people moving to Austin is such a bad thing,the city expanding isn't such a bad thing. There could be major economic benefits if Amazon succeeds in Austin.

This photo was taken when to counter protest turned very tragic. At a white nationalist rally called "Unite the Right" where people who were preaching for equally showed up to counter the white supremacist gathering, This lead to a man driving a speeding car though the rally and counter protest,which lead the dead of a 32 year old women and injured 19 others.
What sicken many Americans was Trump's comments on the event Trump basically said that their were good people on both sides, he called white supremacist good people. The white nationalist were out numbered by the counter posters.

FCC chairman Ajit Pai has been terrorizing internet users for months, by trying to repeal net neutrality. Repealing net neutrality would made the internet over twice as expensive as it currently is already. This would leave millions without internet, making people unable to work,study,and access the internet. The repeal was voted for, but is under likely to go in effect. This is a very one sided issue because Pai always mentions that it was put in that during the Obama administration, even though last time net neutrality was being voted on both demarcates and republicans were voting to keep it. Even though it's unlikely to be repealed it's still a terrible idea.
