Podcasts

Podcasts

There are new podcasts popping up all over the internet. If you're already into listening, maybe try making one of your own! Find a topic, a tv show or a partner and just go with it. If speaking isn't your style, there are so many podcasts that it'd be almost impossible to find one that isn't about something you're into. Need a place to start? Just start exploring the top charts on iTunes or the Play store.

Hand-lettering

Hand-lettering

Sure, maybe you forgot how to write in cursive a few weeks after you left third grade. But haven't you heard? Handwriting is back in! And the best part is that lettering is completely unique to each person. You create your own style, use it however you want, pick your tools and devote as much time to it as you please. There are a million and one how-to guides on the internet and tons of instagram accounts to help you get started.

Cooking

Cooking

Okay, yes, this may seem obvious. But there are new waves of cooking that comes and goes with the trends. If you already have a solid presence at the stove, check out another trend. Maybe investigate a new appliance you haven't before (Juicer? Crockpot?), try out a new food trend (spaghetti squash? Kale everything?) or just explore a new cookbook or recipe site for some new ideas. The world of food is always changing.

Coloring

Coloring

Okay this one has been around for about a year, but it's not slowing down anytime soon. If you need a hobby that will calm you down and provide you with a creative outlet, look no further. The best part is that it requires nothing more than the ability to stay inside the lines. Pick up a book and your choice of instrument (colored pencils or pens tend to work best for small spaces) and relive your childhood while unwinding from the day.

Photography

Photography

Sure, a camera has been a thing for a while, right? But now there are new apps and software that makes photography completely different than it was ten years ago. Whether you want to invest in a fancy non-point-and-shoot camera or just an external lens for your smartphone, check out a few blogs or apps to see what you can do to put your own stylistic stamp on photos. And if you need more technical skills, there are classes all over (and sometimes online) to help with that.

Meditating

Meditating

If you're not really wanting to explore a more physically creative outlet, try this one on for size. Sometimes just taking some time out just for yourself and doing some hardcore reflecting is what could be best. If you haven't tried it because of how difficult it can be to get in the right headspace, check out a few free apps that provide tips, breathing exercises and the like to get you started. If need be, combine journaling with it if you feel like you're losing that productivity aspect when meditating.
