When people speak about the virtual reality they usually look towards video games. Most do not understand that virtual reality isn't just about gaming because various other interesting and exciting uses also exist for virtual-reality. Education is considered as a prime candidate for VR applications especially for students to immerse them into an entirely new world. Virtual-reality is helping students to learn about anatomy and to look at various parts of the human body as a system.

Untethered wireless VR is still in its early stages and there are several applications which are being introduced every passing day. One can read about the VR car simulator and the way it is giving users of the application the feeling of driving the car themselves with the help of untethered wireless VR. Virtual-reality is making inroads into the minds of news organizations who are investing large sums of money in 360° news videos which may be viewed on a normal television screen sometime in the future. Journalists are already explaining how their projects will take their viewers to experience their life simulations of situations with the help of virtual reality.

Virtual reality simulator applications are already being used in the world of sports not just for games but also for training athletes. American football players have been in the forefront of the training which is provided with the help of virtual reality. The technology is helping quarterbacks to test their responses to certain situations over and over again without even having to go on the football field. It has been observed that the skills learned by athletes usually translate into performance on the field.

Researchers are also looking forward to understanding whether untethered virtual VR can enhance the experience of being admitted to the hospital and even undergoing medical procedures. The Cedars Sinai hospital in the US is experimenting with VR with patients in studies which have been conducted lately and have observed that the results are indeed promising.

Japanese researchers after the tsunami began working on a virtual reality simulation that can actually train people to deal with similar disasters if they were ever required to cope with one. Artists can also look forward to adopting virtual reality to make 3-D drawing and painting to make them look realistic because studios are already working on software that will allow artists using a virtual reality headset and other devices to take digital art to the next level.

HTC is also bringing up the 3-D painting app from Google to the VR headset they have developed and identify as HTC Vive. Studies have also revealed that using VR for treating depression is showing promising signs leading researchers to believe it can be used to help with problems such as anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and even alcoholism.

VR may also prove helpful in relieving the stress of flying especially on flights across continents. Airlines from France are already looking forward to introducing virtual reality on its flights to begin as a trial. It is believed that the technology which is being provided by a company has the potential to soon become a regular feature in air travel. Therefore passengers on a flight could begin enjoying the sounds and sights of a virtual venue or explore their destination in full HD rather than being bored on their flight.

Realistic car driving simulators are already helping people master the primary skills of car driving in traffic conditions of different types by simulating the environment to resemble the actual scenario. Although it is still in its early stages to simulate applications of virtual reality have the potential to become a necessity earlier than believed unless another technology is developed to overtake what is presently available.
