What is Mangal Dosha ? How to Remove Manglik Dosh

Manglik Dosh is one of the most feared concepts in Vedic astrology. Most people believing in Vedic astrology fear it and they are concerned whether Manglik Dosh is formed in their horoscopes or not. Manglik Dosh is associated with some of the worst types of results related to the marriages of the natives suffering from this defect and there are many beliefs as well as misconceptions associated with this defect.

In Vedic astrology, it is believed that if Mars is placed in any one of the houses numbered 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 or 12 in a horoscope, where the rising sign or the ascendant is taken as the first house, Manglik Dosh is formed in that horoscope.

The formation of Manglik Dosh in a horoscope is said to delay the marriage of the affected native and it is also said to create disturbances after his marriage. These disturbances may be of many types depending on the house of placement of Mars as well as depending on some other factors. In worst cases of Manglik Dosh, it is believed to break more than one marriage of the native under its impact or it is said to make him suffer from the loss of more than one wife through death. Whereas there is no doubt that Manglik Dosh of very good strength supported by other malefic planets in a horoscope can create all these negative effects, these results are not seen as frequently as they are told to be. Like all other good and bad yogas in Vedic astrology, Manglik Dosh is also a rare concept and it doesn’t form as frequently in a horoscope, as it is believed to be.

There are several remedies for reducing or eliminating the malefic of planet Mars. Any one of them or a combination of two or three would suffice to remove Mangal Dosh/Kuja Dosh/Manglik Dosh.

It is recommended to wear a Red Coral (Moong) gemstone to remove Mangal Dosh or enhance the benefics of Mars. The ring made in silver should be worn on the little finger. This should be worn only after consultation with an expert.

An energized 6 Mukhi Rudraksha mala/bracelet should be worn for protection from Mangal Dosh. 6 mukhi represents God Kartikeya, son of Lord Shiva, the God of War and the commander-in-chief of the army of devas.

Fasting on Tuesdays also brings down the ill-effects of Manglik dosha. During the fast, the Mangliks are only supposed to eat Toor dal (split-pigeon gram).

Mangal graha is ruled by our Muladhara Chakra and Lord Ganesha resides in this chakra. Therefore one suffering from Mangal dosh can pray to Ganesha. Place and pray to a Kesariya (orange-colored) Ganapati at home.

If both the partners are affected by Kuja Dosh then they can marry as the ill effects cancel out. Ashwatha Vivah is a ritual where the manglik is made to marry a Peepal or banana tree which is later cut. In a Kumbh vivah or Ghata vivah the Manglik marries a pot which is later broken.
