Although he made his money in oil, Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke has turned over a new leaf and decided to devote the majority of his money to cleaning up the ocean and figuring out how to restore that vast ecosystem, particularly when it comes to the problem of plastic pollution.
The oceans are under greater pressure than ever before from overfishing, coastal pollution, habitat destruction, climate change and ocean acidification, and one of the most pressing challenges of all, plasticization of the ocean.

So, he's come up with an unorthodox plan to save it: an enormous yacht called a Research Expedition Vehicle (REV). In addition to housing a crew of 40 and 60 scientists, the REV will have the capacity to suck more than 5 tons of plastic out of the ocean daily and convert it to clean energy for the ship. But more than that, it will serve as a research hub for scientists trying to find solutions to the ocean's biggest problems. And for that it will need even more state-of-the-art equipment. You can take a virtual tour of the ship and its amazing eco-friendly research technology in this video:

Did you catch all of that? If you didn't here's a list of everything the REV will be equipped to save the ocean with!

So, now that you know all about Røkke's REV, we want to know...
Do you think this vessel will be able to save the ocean?
