First up was this rather odd exchange in which Inverdale questioned an Olympic rower's ability to carry an umbrella earning him a soaking from Redgrave.
John Inverdale
Is he so strong that he could hold an umbrella for 20 minutes with just his left hand?
Steve Redgrave
Well I think he probably could and hopefully he'll go onto another Olympics and they'll come back with flag-bearers and he could come in with one of those...
John Inverdale
You're doing a good job at the moment.
Steve Redgrave
Thanks John, hang on everybody I'll just shake the water off the umbrella here.

This next incident occurred after Team GB competed and resulted in a clearly frustrated Redgrave apparently giving up and walking off camera, leaving Inverdale to man the coverage of the rowing on his own for the rest of the afternoon.
John Inverdale
Oddjob alongside me here enjoyed seeing that.
Steve Redgrave
We'll have to call you Jaws because I can never get a word in edgeways.

In Bronze position is the odd moment after Mahe Drysdale's victory in the men's single sculls in a photo finish. The New Zealander was making his way over to the press for interviews when Inverdale sneakily grabbed him before his own country's media could get a question in.
John Inverdale
Mahe, can we have a quick question?
Steve Redgrave
uh, eh? wha..?
John Inverdale
What an unbelievable race!
Mahe Drysdale
Yeah it was tough but really happy with how it went. It took everything.
John Inverdale
Did you think you'd won?
Steve Redgrave
Sorry John I cant let you do it. Let him go and do New Zealand TV, I’m sorry I can’t allow that to happen. The Kiwis should get in first.

Finally - although we still have a few days of the Games left so be sure to check back for updates - is this absolute zinger from Andy Murray who had just successfully defended his men's singles tennis title.
John Inverdale
You’re the first person to ever win two Olympic tennis gold medals.
Andy Murray
Venus and Serena have won four each.
