The Perth Zoo Has Just Bred Its 1000th Dibbler!

Perth has been working hard since 1997 to bring dibblers back from the brink of extinction, and it looks like their efforts are really paying off!

Meet Miles the Dibbler!

Perhaps you have never heard of dibblers. That's probably because the tiny marsupials were once thought to be extinct. But the Perth Zoo in Australia has been working to bring them back to a healthy population size since 1997.

Now, after almost 20 years of working for the dibblers, Miles is the 1000th to have been bred by the Perth Zoo. They don't usually name the dibblers, but they made an exception for Miles, their very special milestone.

Breeding dibblers can be a difficult task, though. There are only three or four days per year when dibblers are even capable of mating.
