Harry is humble and doesn’t let fame go to his head.

Harry is no Gilderoy Lockhart! He doesn’t care that he’s famous. He constantly wiggles out of autographs and praise in the "Potter" series. In "Order of the Phoenix", he insists that his achievements greatly relied on the help he received from his friends. The day Harry willingly starts bragging about his acts of great power, we’ll know there was some Polyjuice Potion involved!

Harry has great morals despite years of abuse.

Harry has an impressive sense of who he is that helps him stay true to himself among the Dursleys. Unlike Voldemort, Harry was lucky enough to have one year of parental love before he was left on the doorstep of number four, Privet Drive. The love he received from Lily and James, paired with his own nature, makes it possible for him to know right from wrong. Harry fights against evil throughout the "Harry Potter" series despite the many losses he suffers. It’s amazing that an 11-year-old who just escaped a hostile home environment could fight Voldemort with such vigor in "Sorcerer’s Stone". His unfortunate upbringing gave him the ability to be compassionate toward others and have an outstanding moral compass:

“‘In spite of all the temptation you have endured, all the suffering, you remain pure of heart, just as pure as you were at the age of eleven, when you stared into a mirror that reflected your heart’s desire, and it showed you only the way to thwart Lord Voldemort, and not immortality or riches’” (HBP 511).

3

Harry is brave and loyal. After all, he is a Gryffindor!

Although Harry may sometimes be reckless with his bravery, he’s not afraid to fight for what he thinks is right. His bravery leads to many impressive moments where he escapes enemies and gives readers a chance to cheer him on.

4

Harry is generous.

Harry has never been greedy. Harry knows what it’s like to have nothing. He appreciates everything that is given to him and tries his best to reciprocate. He would gladly share his fortune with the family that took him in:

“He would willingly have split all the money in his Gringotts vault with the Weasleys, but he knew they would never take it” (GoF 157).

In "Goblet of Fire", he seems particularly generous. He buys his friends Omnioculars and gives all his Triwizard money to Fred and George Weasley. Without Harry, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes wouldn’t have been born.

5

Harry loves his friends and family more than anything!

Harry would do anything to protect the people he loves. He’s able to build a family for himself and does everything to keep it safe. The ending of "Deathly Hallows" has always struck a chord with me. Harry’s happy ending is not to conquer evil, or gain power; his happy ending is to finally have a family. Harry Potter is a great role model for kids and adults trying to find their place in the world.
