Cooper hails best mate Dallas

Liam Cooper has hailed the versatility of Leeds United team mate and best friend Stuart Dallas after the duo both signed new deals, joking: "I reckon he'd be decent in goal."

Cooper and Dallas both committed their long term futures to the Whites by signing new contracts on Wednesday evening with Cooper penning a new five-year deal up to the summer of 2024 whilst a new four-year contract for Dallas keeps him at Elland Road until the summer of 2023.

Burnley keeping tabs on Klich - reports

Burnley are set to keep close tabs on Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich this season, Football Insider can reveal.
The Premier League club were keen on the Poland international, 29, during the summer and remain interested now he has entered the final year of his current United deal.
A Burnley source has told Football Insider the club will make regular checks on Klich through scouting missions over the coming months.
They are keen to tie him to down to a long-term deal and avoid losing him on a free at the end of the season but his future could be up in the air if an agreement is not secured.

Plenty to choose from...

Darlow set to leave for free next summer - reports

According to Football Insider, Leeds United target Karl Darlow is likely to leave on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires.

Marcelo Bielsa was interested in bringing Darlow to Elland Road in January and this summer, however Newcastle United were unwilling to negotiate.

Indeed, it is believed Leeds still hold an interest in Darlow, meaning they could revisit a deal next year once his contract expires at St James' Park.

Leeds release statement regarding Stevens ban

We acknowledge the sanctions passed down by the FA to Jordan Stevens following a breach of betting regulations.
We will support Jordan through this process, he is a young footballer who needs educating on the dangers of outside influences and how to conduct himself as a professional footballer.
As a club we feel that banning a 19-year-old footballer from even participating in training or interacting with the club’s staff is an excessive punishment.
Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear commented: “Whilst we fully recognise the importance of the FA's role in protecting the integrity of the game, we are hugely disappointed in the FA's choice of sanction.
“To prevent a young footballer from taking part in any football activities at such critical period of his career is a disproportionate punishment following a foolish mistake from a young player.
“We are particularly disappointed that the sanction was determined by two former professional footballers who we hoped would have had a better understanding of the impact of their decision.”

How did Roberts fare on his return?

Tyler Roberts returned from nearly five months out with an outing for Leeds United’s under-23s who had the brilliance of goalkeeper Illan Meslier to thank for Monday’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace in the Professional Development League.

Wales international forward Roberts has not featured for Leeds since April with the 20-year-old struggling with a knee injury and having had minor surgery over the summer.

But Roberts returned to the fray for United’s under-23s as a second-half substitute at Selhurst Park as the most experienced member of a very young Whites side featuring several under-18s players with a number of players on international duty.

Blimey. Some of these are ridiculous!

Kinnear: Wage bill is now befitting a club that can win promotion

Managing director Angus Kinnear says Leeds United now have a wage bill befitting a club that can win promotion after careful reinvestment of fees from player sales under chairman Andrea Radrizzani.

Jack Clarke (£9m), Kemar Roofe (£7m) and Pontus Jansson (£5.5m) all completed big-money moves away from Leeds in the summer, although Clarke returned on a season-long loan.

The exits of Bailey-Peacock-Farrell, Samu Saiz and Caleb Ekuban also commanded seven-figure transfer fees and Kinnear says the departures have helped to increase United's wage budget.

Leeds are hopeful the strategy will pay immediate dividends, with influential midfielder Kalvin Phillips on the verge of signing a new deal.
