14:08 ScotRail issue travel advice for Scottish League Cup semi-finals

ScotRail are advising football fans travelling to the Betfred Scottish League Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park and BT Murrayfield Stadium to plan their journeys in advance.

Celtic play Hearts in the 1.30pm kick off at BT Murrayfield on Sunday, 28 October, while Aberdeen travel to Hampden Park to face Rangers at 4.30pm on the same day.

ScotRail has confirmed that extra carriages will be added to trains to help fans get to and from the stadiums, however trains will be much busier than normal.

13:54 BREAKING: Police probe attempted murder in Livingston

Police in West Lothian are investigating an attempted murder after a man was left with serious injuries following an altercation involving a number of men.

The incident took place in a wooded area near Holly Grove in the Craigshill area of Livingston shortly after 4pm on Monday, 15 October.

A 27-year-old sustained serious injuries to his head, neck and hand and was taken to Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary for treatment.

11:42 BREAKING: 92-year-old woman 'critical' after serious road crash

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision in the South East of the city.

The incident happened around 8am on Tuesday 16th October in Southhouse Avenue.

An 92-year-old female pedestrian sustained numerous injuries to her body after she was involved in a collision with a Mercedes GL car.

She was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where she remains in a critical condition.

Civerinos has been named among the 10 best pizzerias in the UK, according to Trip Advisor. The popular eatery, which has two establishments in the Capital, opened in 2015 and is renowned for its New York style pizza and delicious Aperol slushies.

Revellers were left stranded and struggling to get home from a beer festival in East Lothian after which one man was found dead on a beach, it has been claimed.

A taxi driver told the Evening News festival closing time was chaos as police moved people on, but event organisers said transport was laid on from the venue.

Hello and welcome to the Edinburgh Evening News live blog, where we will be keeping you up to date on the latest breaking news, traffic and travel, weather and much more throughout the day.

We're looking at another dry day in the Capital, with some sunny spells breaking through in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high of fifteen degrees, so you won't need that winter coat just yet. Not bad for the middle of October.

No disruption to trains at the moment however traffic is starting to build on the City Bypass and M8 heading into Edinburgh.
