07:40 Good morning, Edinburgh

Happy Friday folks! Welcome to Edinburgh News LIVE.

A mild start to the day but it could be the calm before the storm as heavy rain is forecast for large parts of Scotland later on, including Edinburgh and the Lothians.

On the roads it's slow on the M8 Eastbound after an earlier crash. No major issues on routes in and out of the city as of yet. Trains are clear as are the trams and buses.
