You're a true warrior! Just like the brave women throughout history who helped change the world, you'll do great things in this awesome week of camp!

Hypatia [Hi-pay-shuh] of Alexandria, Egypt is known as the world's first female mathematician. Using her story, and others, we'll explore what math was like long ago. You'll learn about Ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece, China, and Aztec cultures, beginning with the story of Hypatia herself.  Ancient number systems, mathematicians and games while solving problems relating to the world long ago. You will also explore the lives of women, and the art and science of these wondrous long ago worlds.

You're a budding artist! Use your super talent and super skills to create some true masterpieces in this awesome week of camp!

You will explore famous artists and use their masterpieces to inspire the girls' own work. You'll l investigate geometry through cubism and surrealism, study proportion and fractions through figure drawing, and multiplication concepts through arrays and area. Some of the artists we'll learn about are MC Escher, Piet Mondrian, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso and Georgia O'Keefe.

Super Spirals and Fabulous Fractals

You're a true nature lover! Use your passion for nature plus your cool curiosity in this awesome week of camp!

You will be inspired by the world around you as we investigate the mysterious patterns and shapes found all over the natural world.  You'll learn about the Fibonacci Sequence, campers will examine spirals found in pine cones and shells and patterns in flowers and animals, too! You will learn about amazing fractals and how they can represent infinity.  Fractals are everywhere in nature, from ferns to the branches of trees.  In this week of outdoor adventure, you will explore the mysterious, magical - and what some even consider the mystical - side of math!
