What Separates Professional Pictures From Amateur Pictures?

A concern for consumers of photo services revolves around the difference between professional pictures and amateur pictures. This concern has been around for a long time and was much easier 45 years ago. Today the question is much more difficult for a large number of reasons; however, the first thing that needs to be defined is the terms professional and amateur. A definition will give a starting point that can be expanded. A professional picture is one that is taken by a professional photographer, a person who earns his living by taking pictures. Amateur pictures are taken by an amateur photographer, a person who doesn’t make their living by photography.
A professional Toronto photographer has some very nice equipment, high quality lenses, and camera bodies. The best Toronto photographer will also have many sources of artificial light to use in every situation. As a result a professionally taken picture will have great color, composition, and shadows.
An amateur photographer will have less quality lenses and camera bodies. An external flash attached to the hot boot is most likely to be the only form of artificial light. As a result the color, composition, and shadows are not great, right? Well it depends. An amateur who practices often and loves photography can take better pictures than an unhappy professional. There are many armature photographers that have day jobs like architects, engineers, doctors and lawyers. These people are extremely detail orientated and will work hard to create the photograph they envision.
With modern digital cameras an amateur has the ability to create pictures that look as good as professionals. An amateur can shoot, critiques, adjust, and shoot again. This can happen in seconds, at most a couple of minutes and doesn’t cost anything. 45 years ago an amateur would have to shoot, record the settings in a log book, adjust and shoot again. Then after the roll of film was finished it would have to be developed. When the film returned in a week or so the results would have to be analyzed. It took a lot of time and dedication to improve your pictures.
Today an amateur toddler photographer can take pictures as good as a professional. It may take 30 minutes longer but the final quality of the pictures will be almost equal to a professional and maybe even better.
Amateur pictures taken by an amateur baby photographer may be as good as professionally taken child photography. The difference is the heart and the eye of the photographer.

How to Take Pictures While You Are Moving

Many times while a Toronto photographer sets out on a journey it will be by car, train, or plane. During the trip there will always be something amazing to shoot, maybe even more interesting than the destination. This is why it is important to be prepared for those moving opportunities. Generally the opportunities only last a couple of seconds so you must be ready at all times.
When you first get into the vehicle of your choice, you need to choose your seat. In a car you can choose a seat that will give you either a front view, side view or rear view. Depending on where you are traveling, you need to make your choice and hope you were correct. In a train or plane you will choose one side or the other. You should also avoid any obstructions, like the wings.
When shooting out of a side window of a car or a train, your shutter speed should be fast. A fast shutter will help freeze the action and give you the best picture possible. Shutter speeds of 1/1000 or higher will work well. Using an ISO of 100 to 200 will still work at this speed.
A photographer in Toronto should avoid taking pictures into the sun, but if that is the side you are one use your hand to shade the lens from direct sunlight. You will also do better shooting objects that are further away than those that are close to the vehicle. Subjects that are further away will move slower out of your frame. It may be a good idea to use a zoom lens like a 70mm to 300mm. these lenses along with the fast shutter speed should give you good clear photos. Shorter lenses will be blurred in the foreground and focused in the background. While this is an interesting technique it may not be your desired results.
If you decide to use the lens with a short focal length open the window. Short lenses may reflect from the window and ruin your photos. If you are using a longer lens be careful not to try shooting on a bumpy road. Using longer lenses makes it difficult for even the best Toronto photographer because when you hit a bump the subject moves out of the picture.
Shooting pictured while moving is not as easy as baby photography or Toronto child photography. It will, however, allow you to capture some amazing images you would not be able to see if you were just walking along.
