Eric Schultz, a spokesman for Barack Obama, has defended the president's decision to speak at a healthcare conference backed by Wall Street for a whopping fee of $400,000. Schultz argues that Obama "implement[ed] the toughest reforms on Wall Street since FDR." However, the fact remains that the $400,000 speaking fee is twice what Hillary Clinton has been charging.
Even democrats are a little unnerved by the fact that Obama is now taking large sums of money from Wall Street. Democratic political consultant Hank Sheinkopf spoke about the subject, saying:
Is there an irony here because he spoke incessantly about the income gap and is now earning from those same people he criticized? Yes it is.Should we expect it? Yes, we should because all former presidents do this. It’s more hypocritical than ironic.
