Melissa and Kurt Cochran were wrapping up a dream tour of Europe by visiting her parents in London when their 25th wedding anniversary trip suddenly came to a tragic conclusion. As they were walking on the south end of Westminster Bridge, they were struck down by terrorist Khalid Masood as he mowed down at least ten other pedestrians with his Hyundai 4x4 on his rampage toward Parliament.
Kurt, 54, was thrown over the side of the bridge onto the walkway below where he died of his injuries. Melissa's leg and rib were broken, and she was left bleeding profusely from a head wound on Westminster Bridge. A photo of Melissa on the bridge has since become one of the most infamous detailing the incident. You can view it below, but it is highly graphic in nature.
Photos, which have been pixelated now, also show Kurt lying on the walkway below.
Melissa's parents grieved the loss of their son-in-law, saying:
Our family is heartbroken to learn of the death of our son-in-law, Kurt W. Cochran, who was a victim of Wednesday's terrorist attack in London. Kurt was a good man and a loving husband to our daughter and sister Melissa.
