In a recent interview with Andrew Marr from the BBC, Matthew McConaughey covered a wide variety of topics, ranging from his feelings about his True Detective character to his new film Gold, a crime drama in which he plays a prospector during the California gold rush.

Most interestingly, though, McConaughey gave comment on Trump's presidency, saying it was "time for us to embrace" the fact that he is president.

He’s our president. And it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time that we’ve ever had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace, shake hands with this fact, and be constructive with him over the next four years.

McConaughey was initially asked whether he thought it was time for Hollywood to "give the guy a break," to which the actor replied:

Well, they don’t have much of a choice.

McConaughey went on to explain further, emphasizing that people needed to be constructive with the fact that Trump is now president...

So, even those who most strongly may disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done... no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be.
