The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race began in 1973 as a way to commemorate "The Great Race of Mercy" in which sled dogs delivered antitoxin to the Alaskan city of Nome during a shortage in the middle of a diphtheria epidemic. Now, the race serves as a highly competitive and anticipated sporting event in Alaska each year. But we want to know if you could win it! Let's start out with a few questions as you get started in the race:

While the best ever time for the Iditarod was only 8 days, and temperatures have been so warm in the past it's had to be rerouted, it's important that you know that your trip will probably not run this smoothly. So, now that you know how many miles you're traveling, how long that will take, and how chilly you'll be along the way, we need to get into some of the finer details of your route. After all, it's important that you know where you're going in this deadly race against the cold and unforgiving Alaskan terrain!

You're very close to a potential victory now! The southern route may be one checkpoint and a few miles longer than the northern route, but that's not daunting to you! You're nearly a pro at this. There are just a few more questions you need to answer to find out if you could truly become an Iditarod champion!

So, now that you're an Iditarod pro, we want to know...

How do YOU think you would you do on the Iditarod?
