Gerene TeKippe was one of the 600+ students who was graduating St. Ambrose this May and she had a plan.

TeKippe was born with spina bifida which caused serious nerve damage and a need for a wheelchair, though she does have limited use of her legs.

She was excited for more than just graduating when it came to the ceremony. TeKippe was determined to physically walk across the stage without her chair. And when she did it, she surprised her parents.

Neither of them expected this and it helped make an important day even more special for the family.
