Parents now getting on to primary school portal

We're hearing parents are now able to get on Leeds Council's primary school portal website - including some here at the Yorkshire Evening Post!

The council say they are working on the issue and we expect a statement from them shortly.

A person has sadly died after being found on the tracks at Brighouse

This is what has been causing disruption from Huddersfield and Halifax into Leeds:

British Transport Police said: "Shortly before 4.10am today (16 April) British Transport Police were called to the tracks close to Brighouse station following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family, and to establish the circumstances that led to the incident."

School places portal down

Cyclist in serious condition in LGI after being hit by bus

Last night a cyclist was hit by a bus on York Road.
The incident caused a full road closure and the police confirmed he was being treated for serious injuries at Leeds General Infirmary.
