NBA news: Dwyane Wade disappointed that Carmelo Anthony is not in the NBA, wants 'brother' to get another shot.

NBA news: Former Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade can’t help but be disappointed about the situation of his good friend Carmelo Anthony, who still hasn’t found a way to convince any team to sign him for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

“He’s a brother of mine and a great friend and I’m just very disappointed that he’s not in the NBA because he doesn’t deserve that as a person. Melo is one of the best individual people I know and a lot of people don’t know that because things that have been said about him in the past. Hopefully he gets an opportunity to be with a team this season because he has a lot to still offer the right team in the right role and the right situation. I want him to be able to end his career the way he wants to end it. He deserves that as someone who has carried the torch for this game and done so much for the league and Team USA in the Olympics. He deserves better than this.”

Over the past couple of years, Melo has built a reputation of him not wanting to accept a reduced role. Although he’s still a very talented player at age 35, teams have distanced themselves from him because of the league-wide perception that he’s just going to be a distraction in the locker room.

Even the US men’s national basketball team, which Anthony helped win three Olympic Gold medals, refused to give him a roster spot in the recently concluded FIBA World Cup, held in China in September. That speaks volumes as to how problematic he is in the eyes of a lot of people, particularly team owners and officials.

Still, Wade believes that Melo deserves a chance to be in the NBA, but what does he really want for his Banana boat brother?

“The place that wants him. The place that’s going to allow him to be Melo and understand that he still can play the game of basketball. Definitely want to see him get back into the league. But you also want to see him get back to a place where they can allow Melo to play the game he loves the way that Melo can.”

Just like Wade, we’re all hoping that we’d get to see Melo back in court soon.
