You'll Only Remember These Totally Rad School Supplies If You Grew Up In The 90's
It's back to school for most kids and teens out there, but we 90's kids can't help but reminisce about simpler times. Back then, the first day of the school wasn't just about getting to wear your cutest outfit or brand new running shoes, it meant getting to use all of your totally rad school supplies! Here's a few you may remember...
Push-Up Pencils
Ah the push-up pencil, so much hope, so many broken leads...At least some of them smelled like strawberries.
Lunchbox with Thermos
These lunch boxes are anything but practical but they are so cute! And came in all sorts of different designs.
Gel Pens
I gotta say, the gel pen movement was strong. Gel pens were acceptable to be used like regular pens so we went ahead and had every colour and glittery gel pen under the sun.
Spacemaker
Every 90's kid had a Spacemaker at least once during their scholarly career. And don't look at me and say you never made a glue bookmark on one. Because you and I know that's a lie, we all glued things and peeled it off for fun.
Yikes Pencils
Why have normal pencils when you can have Yikes pencils. They were always just so fun and I I'm pretty sure having these pencils was an important measure of your "coolness factor."
Art Case
Getting one of these for Christmas always caused major excitement. That is, until you started using it and realized that the crayons were super waxy and the markers ran out in a few days. Disappointed.
Mr. Sketch Scented Markers
Everything seemed to smell in the 90's, in a good way. We were obsessed with scented pens, pencils, erasers, stickers, markers. It just added a je ne said quoi.
96 Crayola Crayons with Built-In Sharpener
This was the Rolls Royce of school supplies as far as I'm concerned. 96 colours of crayons WITH a built-in sharpener? If you rolled into class first day with this, you gained instant respect.
Pencil Grips
We didn't have iPads back then so our hands would tire and even start hurting from writing up to 4 hours a day. But because of pencil grips we could write much better and without the pain! Thank the lord for this invention!
Zip-Up Binder
Zip-Up binders were more practical than anything. You could stuff all kinds of paper, eraser, pencils, even snacks inside and the teacher would never be the wiser.
