Research

There are many different league tables, and measures of factors like student satisfaction, degree completion and graduate employment statistics.  Remember the important thing is to find the right university or college for YOU, this might not necessarily be the top in the world, but the one that best suits you.

2

Visit

Many universities and colleges have Open Days where you can speak to current pupils, tutors and visit the campus. This can be a great chance to see what the local environment around an institution is like. If you cannot travel to an Open Day, many places offer virtual tours, or have a look on Google Maps and Images to get more of a feel for what the campus looks like.

3

Talk

Reach out to people you know who already go to or have been to the academic institution you’re thinking about, they might have insights that a prospectus or website won’t tell you! If you don't know anyone you might be able to meet or get in touch with students via the university or college website.

4

List

Write out the pros and cons of each place, or any observations you come across while researching to make your comparisons clearer. Keep it all in a Word document or handy notebook so you don't lose it.

5

Advice

Your parents or carers, school or family friends might be a good place to look for help, even if it is just to be a listening ear.
