Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United States, Her Excellency Hunaina Sultan Ahmed Al Mughairy, spoke at the conference's opening presentation, “Women in International Diplomacy and Global Leadership.”
Poster Sessions
The conference consisted of several poster presentations which included research and artistic works. The poster presentations were prepared by students as they are the most highly attended event of the conference. Students presented their research and received feedback. Topics covered various areas of interest including psychology, legal studies and communication.

"The Value of Persistence: Life after Prison and the Reality Parole"

Antoine Kham Thurston served ten years in the W.F. Ramsey Unit, a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison located in Rosharon, Texas. Thurston was a star student in Shreerekha Subramanian's undergraduate humanities course. Through the hardships, experiences and lessons that he has learned, Thurston discussed the situation that former inmates are put in after being released, and detailed how the parole system works.
