If Athletes Were Types Of Thanksgiving Food

Regardless of the sport, every teammate plays an important role in the overall dynamic of the team. Just like a Thanksgiving dinner, each component is important for the overall outcome of the feast, or the game. Which athlete/food are you? ;)

Play Maker AKA Turkey

Whether its your point guard, your quarterback, your catcher, your goalie, or your scrum-half, these athletes analyze the field and make snap decisions to guide their teammates to victory. While they may not be the top scorers of the game, without them most teams would completely fall apart. While you don't NEED to have turkey at your Thanksgiving festivities, the table would look a little strange. Hey, we said nothing agains tofu birds for our vegetarian sports fans out there. ;)

2

Coach AKA Mashed or Sweet Potatoes

Just like your Play Maker, a coach is a staple to any team. How they approach coaching however, can take many forms. Thus the two different kinds of potatoes. Some coaches are hard on their players because they see the team's potential. Some coaches simply want to instil a love of the game in their players and are therefore a little "sweeter". Regardless of their "flavor" a team wouldn't be complete without the wisdom of their coach, and a thanksgiving feast would feel bare with out some form of spud on the table.

3

Top Scorer AKA Your Favorite Classic Casserole

Everyone has their favorite dish that they look forward to eating each year. Every team has a member that is a go-to when you need to put some points on the board. They are reliable and always a safe bet. No surprises with this dish.

4

Clown AKA Cranberry Sauce

While practices are often times to be serious, every team needs that one person who can lighten the mood. Humor is an important aspect of keeping a team balanced. This is what the cranberry sauce does. This tangy sauce is here to bring some zing to this delicious meal in order to balance out all the other rich foods we are consuming.

5

Rookie AKA New Experiment Casserole

Will this new casserole from your Aunt Carol be a delicious new addition, or a strange tasting experiment? Who knows, but if we don't try new things we may never discover a new favorite. While our Rookies, may not know what they are doing all the time, given the right instruction, these athletes can prove to be strong leaders in the years to come!

6

Muscle AKA Bread

We all know that one player who the other team is afraid of. Somehow they manage to be everywhere they need to be, not to mention their large stature and impressive muscle tone make them a formidable foe. Like the muscle of the team, the dinner or cornbread roll can be found on every plate, and is often used to support the other dishes, either by helping absorb all the delicious juices and sauces, or by giving your mouth a respite from all the delicious flavors bombarding your mouth.

7

The Positive Attitude AKA Stuffing

What would a turkey be without stuffing to keep all the delicious juices inside? What would a team be without that one player who always keeps the team's head up, even when the situation looks dire? Probably not in a very good place. Pretty dry actually.

8

Bench Players AKA Gravy

Without a bench, a team is going to have a very hard time when exhaustion and injury threaten it's dream of winning. A bench that knows what to do, and has been cheering its team on from the sidelines is invested in the game, and is more likely able to perform when it is needed. Like these bench players, the gravy has been with the turkey from the very beginning. By using the guts from the turkey the gravy has a delicious flavor, which can then be used to smother pretty much every previously aforementioned dish with goodness. While not always lauded, a good gravy can make all the difference.

9

The Snack Master AKA Salad

You know exactly who I'm talking about. That one teammate who always has a granola bar, or the latest trend in energy-boosting drinks. They are always trying to keep their metabolism up and are always there to remind you to take care of the aspects of your health that aren't exercise. This player is just like the salad. The salad is a healthy alternative to the other mostly rich dishes. The salad provides you with the option to eat some thing light yet still delicious. Plus it acts as a reminder that after this delicious feast, we will probably have to go for a run in order to keep the same pants' size.

10

Defense Stud AKA Pumpkin Pie

The last line of defense, or in the case of our feast, dessert, the pumpkin pie. There are offensively strong players, and their are defensively strong players. Without these heroes of defense, our offense wouldn't get the chance to shine. With dessert, our bodies get the change to appreciate completely different flavors in order to balance out the delicious savory meal we had just consumed. Is a thanksgiving feast, even a thanksgiving feast without dessert? I don't think so, just like a team can't be all offense and no defense.
