Eleanore Rubinstein vowed to outlive her father's age when he passed away at 96 years old!

A goal she has reached and surpassed as she recently celebrated her 104th birthday! Eleanore is a Beaverton resident with 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Oh! Did we mention she also has an adorable Dachshund puppy, by the name of Sophie?

What's Eleanore's secret to a long life?

That's a question many would love answered. At 104, Eleanor is a busy gal that you can bet won't be staying home doing nothing. In fact, she does her best to encourage many others elderly friends to stay active, both in mind and body!

Eleanore and Sophie get to work!

Every Tuesday, Eleanore jumps into her daughter's car and is dropped off at Store to Door, a non-profit organization in the heart of Portland's Multnomah Village. The organization provides a personal shopping service for housebound seniors who live alone.

More than just a shopping service!

Eleanore's job seems straightforward: Call elderly clients and get their shopping list! But, beneath the surface lies much more. Eleanore's job is not only to obtain their shopping needs but to also check on their well-being and make sure there isn't anything that might raise a red flag, such as looking for symptoms of depression or Alzheimer's Disease.

Programs like these are what motivates Eleanore to wake up every morning and get to work!

Eleanore takes her time when speaking to clients, whom have become dear friends over their many phone calls. She finds out what they're doing, what their favorite shows are, and if there's anything they need to talk to someone about. If Eleanore feels something is wrong, she will notify team members from the program who will then send someone out to investigate further.

In addition to working, Eleanore works out!

If there's one thing Eleanore has learned, it's the importance of maintaining a healthy mind and body through various activities, such as exercise. Eleanore enjoys playing her bouncy puppy, Sophie, leaving Eleanore free of any dull moments.

Let's all be more like Eleanore!

So remember! If you want to live to see your great grandchildren discover their new world, take a lesson out of Eleanore's book and keep busy! Also, live by the golden rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." A rule Eleanore swears by and lives up to, every single day.
