Groundhog Day is upon us, and Punxsutawney Phil is about to tell us whether we'll have six more weeks of winter or an early spring! But how much do you really know about groundhogs?
Each year on February 2, we all eagerly await with baited breath the decision of Punxsutawney Phil, the official groundhog of Groundhog Day, to tell us whether we'll have six more weeks of winter or an early spring this year.
The process is simple, but highly ceremonious. If Phil sees his shadow on the ground and scurries back into his home, we're looking at another chilly six weeks. If, however, he does not see his shadow and become frightened out of his little mind, we're looking at an early spring.
The tradition may go back as far as the Roman Empire, but Groundhog Day was first observed in the U.S. on February 2, 1886.
But now that you know more about Groundhog Day itself, we want to find out how much you know about groundhogs!
