The Reason For This Cold Spell

The reason why the UK will be experiencing this cold weather, is due to high pressures over Scandinavia dragging the easterly cold wind to the UK for this weekend, adding a chill factor that will give us the bitter and freezing feel for this weekend, making the first week of March feel quite wintry, even though the Meteorological Spring arrives on March 1st.

But Iceland's temperatures will soar as their will benefit from less of a cold south-westerly flow.

Katie Greening, a Forecaster from The Weather Channel has said that "Blocking high pressure anchored over Scandinavia will draw and exceptionally cold air mass from northern Russia to the UK." also saying "The cold air from the east will result in severe widespread frosts overnight, whilst day-time maximum temperatures will struggle to lift above freezing in some places."
