Meet Joey!

Joey was raised by Adam and Carmen Pearl.

An Orphaned Baby Squirrel

Joey was found abandoned in a flower garden by a friend's daughter when he was about a week old. Adam Pearl recalls Joey's eyes had not yet opened and he was the size of a small lighter.

Even so, the Pearl's went out for supplies and did their best to care for him. They set an alarm every two hours just to feed him.

His temperament is kind of like a cat. When he wants attention, he'll run up to you and climb up your leg.

Thanks to the Pearl's, Joey grew into a healthy squirrel!

Joey fights to protect his home!

In February, Joey prevented a burglary by scratching the teen suspect that tried to break into a gun safe.

The unidentified teenager told police officers that the squirrel's attack "scared him, obviously, because he wasn't expecting to have, you know, a squirrel come flying out of nowhere at him," said Officer Ashley Turner.

That's one brave squirrel!

Joey was rewarded with his favorite candy, Whoppers!

Joey Grows Up and Leaves The Pearl Nest...

On June 4, Joey climbed onto Adam’s shoulder, where he stayed for several minutes getting ear-scratches before disappearing in the home's apple tree.

It was nice knowing you, Joey!

If I had to guess, he found a girlfriend and they’re off doing their squirrel thing.
