Would you take your child to a dentist or doctor who hasn't been trained, certified and has zero experience? Up to 70% of the teaching staff in Bridge International Academies is unqualified. Our children deserve professional, qualified and caring teachers.
In Uganda, the government ordered Bridge schools to shut down citing “poor hygiene and sanitation which put the life and safety of the school children in danger.”
School fees charged by Bridge International Academies deepen inequality and segregation. Bridge fees represent up to 30% of a family income in Kenya. In Liberia, many children were forced out of their local schools when they were taken over by Bridge.
Authorities in Kenya and Uganda have declared that the curriculum used by Bridge Schools does not meet national requirements.
Bridge has been ordered to close many of its schools for failing to meet national educational standards. In Kenya, some Bridge schools were ordered closed by a local authority for continuing “to operate illegally”.
If you have come this far and realize that this is number 6, good for you and thankfully you had a competent math teacher. It's just not good for you or the universe to support those who profit from vulnerable kids and family. Supporting free, quality public education for all, that is good karma!
